SpongeBob SquigglePants

SpongeBob SquigglePants 3D is an action video game developed by WayForward Technologies and published by THQ based on the SpongeBob SquarePants television series. In 2011, the Nintendo 3DS version was published. The original SpongeBob SquigglePants game for the Wii was played with the uDraw GameTablet accessory and is based on the WarioWare series of minigames.

The gameplay on the Nintendo 3DS version is nearly identical to that on the Wii version, with the exception that the touch screen is utilized instead of the uDraw Tablet (because the Nintendo 3DS isn’t compatible with it). The Nintendo 3DS Circle Pad is used to complete the IconBob levels (which are exclusive to this version).

SpongeBob SquigglePants – About the Game

Over 100 mini-games, often known as Nanogames, require the touchpad in SpongeBob SquigglePants. Each game has a short time constraint and can only be attempted five times before failing. “That Takes the Spongecake,” in which the player tilts the tablet to assist SpongeBob in blowing out all the birthday cake candles; “Flying Disc of the Deep,” in which the player flicks the stylus to toss a flying disc to Larry the Lobster; and “A Bridge Abridged,” in which the player draws a quick line between two cliffs to create a bridge for Plankton to cross and grab his long-awaited Krabby Patty.

Furthermore, Patchy the Pirate, the president of the SpongeBob fan club, appears as the live-action host of SpongeBob SquigglePants. Patchy leads players through the game, making unexpected appearances and interacting with them while they play the Nanogames. Also, with a free-form sketching function and a selection of SpongeBob-themed stamps, players can digitally draw, paint, and color in SpongeBob SquigglePants. Fans will also be treated to styles from the Nickelodeon vault, such as “B-Movie,” which is inspired by the days of drive-in movies and stylish horror films; “Sketch Bob,” which gives the residents of Bikini Bottom a freehand style look; “Simply Bob,” a stylized and abstract interpretation of life under the sea; and many more.

The 3D effect provides a subtle sense of depth and works well with a couple of the aforementioned visual types, however, some sets don’t stand out as much. However, with its different palettes, it’s an appealing and visually engaging experience, complete with a soundtrack tailored to each set. Patchy’s video parts are two-dimensional, which is sad, but the graphically attractive nanogames more than make up for it.

Features of SpongeBob SquigglePants

spongebob squigglepants picture it

SquigglePants is a collection of nanogames, which will seem suspiciously familiar to any WarioWare enthusiast because of the gameplay similarity. Quite frankly, it follows the same format, with a succession of quick challenges lasting roughly five seconds each. As a result, it never becomes overly complicated. They all entail using the stylus (flicking, drawing, etc. ), the 3DS (tilting, shaking), or the circle pad to complete an action, which is good because it makes you use the full capacity of the 3DS You’ll have a brief respite between each one, with the next action displaying on the screen as you wait. It’s quite simple to pick up and play, and seeing how well you can go round after round can quickly become addictive.

You can play over 100 games, which looks sparse when compared to WarioWare Touchedmore !’s 180 games. It does a good job of channeling the TV show’s goofy, off-beat comedy, and the fast-paced style suits it well, amplifying it to the point that you could find yourself laughing out loud from time to time. The developers divided the games into several distinct series, each with its art style because it keeps things fresh and exciting as you progress. PixelBob, a fun 8-bit tribute game with gameplay and a design inspired by classics like Pong and Frogger, is also available.

There are also a few more difficult unlockable mini-games, a video instruction, and an Art Studio option. Expect to spend little time here, and you won’t be able to save more than one piece at a time – not that you’ll want to, given the feature’s limitations.

How to Play SpongeBob SquigglePants

Nanogames and stages

Mechanically, the game is very simple to play. The moves you need to make on your touchpad include, draw, tilt, flick, shake tap, drag 1 (Circle way), drag 2 (Slide way), hold.

B-Movie

This stage’s art style is similar to that of a horror film, and it takes place in a theater where a film about Squidward and the hash-slinging slasher is being shown. Squidward looks terrified at the hash-slinging slasher at the opening of the stage. He will sprint faster when you complete a minigame. The hash-slinging slasher moves closer to him and smiles whenever you lose a nanogame. The hash-slinging slasher crumbles after you complete the stage or achieve a high score, revealing SpongeBob and Patrick in costumes. If the player runs out of lives, SpongeBob and Patrick, still dressed as slashers with hash, approach Squidward with wicked expressions.

Comic Book

This stage’s graphical style is similar to that of a comic book. Sandy (dressed as Miss Appear) chases Plankton, who is carrying a Krabby Patty, at the start of the play. When you complete a microgame, Sandy accelerates while Plankton becomes concerned. She falls behind when you lose a nanogame, then, she returns the patty if you complete the stage or achieve a high score. She will stop running if the player runs out of lives, and Plankton will smile with the patty.

Simply Bob

This stage’s art style is based on silhouettes, a nod to early iPod ads. Gary slithers into place at the start of the stage. Also, he smiles and sways back and forth when you complete the level or achieve a good score. He looks sorrowful if the player runs out of life.

SketchBob

In this stage, the art style is poorly drawn sketches with often missing lines and color. Mr. Krabs opens the stage by pointing to the Krusty Krab’s entrance. Customers enter the restaurant after completing a microgame. He appears sad after you lose a nanogame. Also, he leaps into the air when you complete the stage or achieve a high score. If the player runs out of lives, Mr. Krabs screams, and then, he closes the Krusty Krab’s doors and windows shut.

Punk

The visual style is reminiscent of rock album illustrations. Patrick is taking part in a concert, he will fall over on his back with the audience holding on to him if the player wins a nanogame. Patrick will collapse and become heartbroken if you lose, but he will be heartbroken rather than happy.

PixelBob

The graphic style is similar to that of an 8-bit game from the NES.
