The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Story

The Premise

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, the players get to retake their role as Link, the series’ main hero. After Zelda summons him, Link takes up the mission of stopping Ganondorf, the series’ main antagonist, from obtaining the Triforce. Should Ganondorf come to possess it, this holy relic would give him godlike powers. He must find the three Spiritual Stones so that he can reclaim the relic in the Sacred Realm before Ganondorf does. Unfortunately, things go wrong as Link enters the Sacred Realm, but Ganondorf follows him and claims the Triforce before Link can.

Seven Years Later

Link awakens seven years later to find that seven Sages now protect the Sacred Realm. They have sealed Link’s soul so that he may become strong enough to defeat Ganondorf through wielding the Master Sword. Ganondorf, meanwhile, has become the new sorcerer king of Hyrule. It is now Link’s mission to find the seven Sages, rescue Zelda and put an end to Ganondorf’s cruel reign.

Game Features of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Although the game is essentially just a remake of the original, there are a few new features to look out for while playing the game. Nintendo has taken advantage of all the new possibilities that come with the 3DS, namely the touch screen and its gyroscopic technology.

Switch Items Easier Than Ever

Players can use the touch screen to swap between items, boots, and tunics. However, there is a more important role to the touch screen and to the game itself. The players also use the touch screen to play the notes on the Ocarina.

Make Use of the Gyroscopic Technology

The gyro sensors are one of the most useful features of the 3DS when it comes to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. Gamers can use this to have a more immersive experience while aiming Link’s bow, slingshot, and an array of other weapons the main character uses in the game. If you’re not a fan, you can turn this option off and instead use the classic analog stick controls.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D – Boss Challenge Mode

The game includes a Boss Challenge mode. The player can fight all of the bosses in the game one at a time, or in sequential order.

The Master Quest Dungeons

As mentioned before, the 3DS version also includes modified versions of the Master Quest dungeons. The overworld in the game is mirrored, as well as the boss arenas for the Master Quest’s version of the Boss Challenge mode. The bosses also do double the damage in this mode.

If You Need A Hint

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D gives you the option of small hints when you stop at a certain point in the game. This help comes in the form of Visions. They are a sequence of brief video clips that serve as hints to the player if they get lost or don’t know how to solve one of the many puzzles featured in the game. However, this is completely optional and can be completely turned off in settings.

Previous Features comeback in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

In addition to making use of the 3DS’s capabilities, a lot of features from the classic are making a return. Many fans of the original are already familiar with Z-targeting. This is a system where Link latches on to the enemies and other objects in the game. Players can also see the consequences when a button is pushed with a feature called context-sensitive actions.

The beloved Ocarina system also makes a return. The players learn to perform and use the instrument to teleport to several locations and solve music puzzles throughout the game. This Ocarina of Time also has a very important role in the story. It is needed to progress through the main quest.

How to Play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

The Controls

The most important part of any game is learning how to move and attack. If the ROM is loaded onto a 3DS, players should use the neutral control pad to move, and the X and Y buttons to attack. If you choose to play the game on Citra, the 3DS emulator, you control Link using the keyboard. The keyboard bindings are a bit different, though. The neutral control pad is bound to the I, J, K, and L keys, and the X and Y buttons are bound to the Z and X keys. The save button is also very important. The start/select buttons can be used to do this. On the keyboard, this equals the N and M keys. You can find a picture detailing all the controls on Citra’s official website. Keep in mind that you can change the controls to make the gameplay nice and comfortable.

Gameplay Tips and Tricks

Navi, a fairy who acts as Link’s navigator through the game, is probably there for a reason. As the Deku tree says, the player should pay attention to the advice she gives throughout the game, as it can be very helpful in progressing. Remember to always keep track of your heart containers! Lastly, make sure to enjoy the game in the way you want to. Whether that be progressing through the main quest or just exploring the world on your own. The game is a revisit of one of the most famous and beloved games in the series. You should make sure to experience it in a way that will bring back or create your best memories!
